Yahoo News Monchi says what everyone is thinking about Aston Villa and a stunning double
Monchi has urged Aston Villa to keep pushing entering the “final stretch” of a brilliant season.
Villa are in a great position to finish in the top four in the Premier League and qualify for next season’s Champions League, with just five matches left to play. And they are also favourites to win the Europa Conference League as they prepare for the second leg of their quarter-final tie against Lille.
Unai Emery’s side lead Lille 2-1 after the first leg at Villa Park, while in the Premier League they are in fourth place and three points ahead of fifth-placed Tottenham.

A top-four finish in the Premier League and European silverware would represent a stunning season for the club and Monchi, the president of football operations, admits he is “very excited” ahead of the climax to the campaign.
Speaking to El Desmarque, he said: “Super happy, super happy and very excited about this final stretch of the season. This season we have played in Europe and next season we are going to play again, although we don’t know what yet.
“We have a great coach and he is capable of getting the best out of any squad. And ours, which is very good, is performing at a very high level. We deserve what we are doing, because we have worked very hard and hopefully in this final stretch we will be able to finish what has been a very good season.”
