More flowers left at scene after 10-year-old died in tragic Bradford house fire

MORE flowers have been left outside the home of a tragic house fire on a Bradford street where a 10-year-old girl died.

The young girl died in the fire at a property on Kingsdale Drive, just off Bolton Road, Bradford, on Sunday, May 5.

The fire service was called to reports of a serious house fire shortly after 1.08am.

A woman, 37, and three children, aged 11, 6, 3, managed to escape the property and were taken to hospital for treatment.

Their injuries were not life-threatening.

A fourth child was found inside the address and sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.

In a police statement, Detective Chief Inspector Zaheer Abbas of Bradford District Police said: “This is an absolutely tragic incident in which a young child has lost her life, our thoughts are with her family at this time.

“Our investigation with the fire service has deemed that the fire was not suspicious.

“The family are being supported by specially trained officers, a file will now be prepared for the coroner in due course.”

Flowers left outside the property on Kingsdale Drive, and there were at least of half dozen bouquets at the scene on Monday.

The girl’s death in the fire has left the local community devastated.

Speaking to the T&A on Sunday, one resident said: "My daughter was friends with the girl. They were always playing outside.

"She was a very nice good girl.

"It is so sad what has happened. Just horrible.

"I have lived here since November. They are a nice family who often say hello."

I woke up at 3am to bright lights inside my front windows. Police and fire were outside. I was not sure what happened One resident said the young girl would regularly play with her daughter on the street.

"She would always say hello to me," a neighbour on Kingsdale Drive said.

"She was really friendly.

"Everyone on here is so devastated.

"We're absolutely gutted."

Another resident said: “I’ve lived here for 14 years and they have been here longer than me. It is just so sad."

People have also taken to social media to express their sadness.

On the T&A’s Facebook page, residents have called the girl’s tragic death “so sad” and “heartbreaking”.
