The Most Expensive Funko Pop (Plus 5 That Sold for Over $30k)
You may not know Funko Pop (also stylized as "Pop!") by name, but you've definitely seen the big-headed, wide-eyed vinyl figurines in toy stores and beyond. Funko Pops are kind of like bobbleheads, without the bobble, and they seem even more popular than Beanie Babies were in the 90s.
The most expensive Funko Pop (made by Funko Inc., which licenses with entertainment companies to produce limited-edition figurines of pop culture icons) sold for a whopping six figures. You can make a custom Funko Pop in your own likeness for a lot less money.
The limited-edition Pops have captured the attention of Funko Pop collectors, who will often pay a premium for rare Funko Pops. Join us as we take a look at some of the priciest and rarest collectibles in the Funko Pop world.
1. Willy Wonka Golden Ticket 2-Pack
Just 10 of this Funko Pop two-pack featuring a golden Willy Wonka and Ooompa Loompa were produced by Funko for the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con, making it the rarest Funko Pop ever.
In 2023, the two-pack sold for $210,000, making it also the most expensive Funko Pop in history. Yet, it doesn't even crack the list of the most expensive things in the world.
2. Clockwork Orange (Glow-in-the-Dark)
In February 2023, a Clockwork Orange Funko Pop sold for $60,000, making it the second-most expensive Funko item and the most expensive single Funko Pop ever sold.
This rare Funko Pop depicts Alex DeLarge of "A Clockwork Orange." Only 24 copies of this Funko Pop were produced (12 of which are glow-in-the-dark), due to licensing issues.
3. Freddy Funko as Tony Stark/Iron Man (Metallic)
A Freddy Funko as Tony Stark/Iron Man sold for $43,000 in August 2022, making it the most expensive Freddy Funko ever sold.
Just 12 copies of this rare Funko Pop, a San Diego Comic-Con promotion, were made in 2012. According to HobbyDB, "the Freddy Metallic Iron Man was given out for free to lucky SDCC attendees in 2012 and is universally considered the most sought-after Freddy in existence."
4. Freddy Funko as Buzz Lightyear (Glow-in-the-Dark)
One of the first San Diego Comic-Con Freddy Funko Pops was the 2011 Freddy Funko as Buzz Lightyear. This glow-in-the-dark "Toy Story" figurine sold for $35,000 in October 2022, making it one of the most expensive Funko Pops.
5. Freddy Funko as Ghost Rider (Metallic)
Funko Inc. has a history of giving away limited-run rare Pops at San Diego Comic-Con. In 2011, 2012 and 2013, they gave out Pops known as "12 pieces," because there are just 12 copies of each Pop in existence.
These Pops feature Freddy Funko (the Funko mascot) dressed as different characters and have become some of the rarest Funko Pop figures in existence due to their extremely limited nature.
One of the Freddy Funkos released in 2013 was Freddy Funko as the comic book character Ghost Rider, which sold for $33,500 in August 2022.
At this same event, Funko released 12 copies of the Freddy as Jaime Lannister Funko Pop (worth about $24,000) and 200 copies of the Freddy as Batman Funko Pop, which sells for about $2,000 to $5,000.
6. Boo Berry (Glow-in-the-Dark)
Twenty-four copies of the glow-in-the-dark Boo Berry Funko Pop were released for the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC). These rare Funko Pops feature Boo Berry, the little-known mascot of the 1970s General Mills cereal.
A Boo Berry Funko Pop sold for $32,000 in October 2023.
