A CAMPERVAN flipped onto its side in a narrow country lane in Minehead on Wednesday, with its occupants suffering minor injuries.

Avon and Somerset Police Special Constabulary attended the incident in West Luccombe, just off the A39, a mile east from Porlock, at around 2 pm on June 26.

This was a single-vehicle collision, with only the Mercedes campervan involved.

Dramatic images show the motorhome wedged on its side between the two banks of the road. On the rear of the vehicle damage to the tailgate can be seen.

The road was blocked by the toppled motorhome and closed by police for almost three hours until 5.45pm, as the vehicle awaited recovery.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset police confirmed that it recorded "minor injuries for occupants only".

The incident was attended by Special constables; volunteer police officers who hold the same powers as regular police officers.
