Motorists beware: Stoke-on-Trent road shut from 8pm for overnight pothole blitz

Highways crews will work through the night to fix a busy Potteries road. Signs have gone up warning King Street, in Fenton, will be shut to allow the works to take place.

The scheme is set to last for a week with crews on the scene between 8pm and 6am. Signs at the Park Street end have warned of the closure from April 29, while those further towards Longton talk of works between May 1 and May 3.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council says a further programme will take place later in the year to finalise the project on the notoriously busy stretch between Fenton and Longton.

A council spokesperson said: "Resurfacing work is due to be carried out in King Street, Fenton, as part of our commitment to improve road surfaces in the city and repair potholes. Works are expected to start on April 29 and will take approximately one week. Our teams work hard to keep disruption to a minimum and work will be carried out overnight from 8pm to 6am. Later this year, the second phase of repairs will take place with a surface treatment being carried out on the remaining carriageway.”
