Motorists are being warned of disruption as a number of Cambridgeshire village roads will close later this month. Parkside and High Street, in Chippenham, are scheduled to shut in both directions from Wednesday (May 22) until Friday (May 24) for works.

The works are being carried out by the county council, who will be doing maintenance and repair in the area. These are scheduled to take place between 8am and 5pm on each day during this period.

Emergency access will be maintained at all times. Roadworks and a diversion around the village will also be in effect over the week and drivers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire County Council said: "Parkside and High Street, Chippenham, will be closed both ways to all motor vehicles between the 22nd - 24th May between the hours of 8am and 5pm daily for works."

The diversion route will take motorists down Dane Hill Road, Turnpike Road, Newmarket Road, Red Lodge North, Elms Road, The Street and Fordham Road. It is estimated that this will add around seven miles and an extra 12 minutes onto journey times.
