All the votes have been cast in the general election 2024 with results declared in the early hours of Friday morning. Polling stations across the UK closed their doors at 10pm with all the ballots quickly taken to the necessary count centre.

The first results were due shortly after 12am on Friday, with all seats expected to have been declared by mid-morning. However, it should to be known by around 4am which party has won the election, and how big the margin is likely to be.

Elections took place in all 650 constituencies across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Boundary commission changes introduced ahead of the general election meant that many boundaries were changed and new constituencies created.

A total of 211 constituencies out of 650 had also been renamed.

The 2024 general election was called by Rishi Sunak on May 22. A general election typically takes place every four to five years with the last in December 2019.
