It’s nice to see so many familiar faces in Amazon’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith… even if we don’t get to see some of them for very long.

The reimagined spy series (which debuted on Prime Video on Friday) stars Donald Glover and Maya Erskine as John and Jane Smith, a pair of highly trained operatives who live together as a married couple while carrying out deadly missions. And let’s put the emphasis on “deadly,” because John and Jane rack up quite a big body count across all eight episodes. They also run into quite a big number of famous guest stars along the way — and unfortunately, some of those guest stars don’t live to see the end of the episode.

We thought we’d make things easy for you with a complete guide to all the fun guest stars we spotted in Mr. & Mrs. Smith’s first season, along with info on who they played and if they managed to make it out alive. So your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to read on and get the full intel on Mr. & Mrs. Smith’s parade of guest stars. And if you’ve watched all eight episodes (mission accomplished!), give the season a grade in our poll.

They first appear in: Episode 1

They play: John and Jane, a pair of spies holed up in an idyllic cabin in the woods.

Do they survive? Not even until the opening credits. They’re both gunned down by a squad of mystery assassins in the first five minutes, showing us how dangerous the life of a spy can be.

Paul Dano

He first appears in: Episode 2

He plays: Harris, a neighbor of John and Jane’s who gets a bit too nosy.

Does he survive? Yes, but barely. John holds him at gunpoint in Episode 8, convinced he’s a rival spy — but really, he’s just a real estate agent who covets their pristine brownstone.

John Turturro

He plays: Eric Shane, an eccentric billionaire who John and Jane are asked to track at a high-end art auction.

Does he survive? Nope. John and Jane accidentally hit him with a double dose of truth serum, and after he blurts out a lot of brutally honest secrets, he keels over dead, forcing John and Jane to dispose of his body.

They play: Gavol and Parker, an unhappily married couple who John and Jane monitor during a luxury ski vacation in the Italian Dolemites.

Do they survive? Yes, but their marriage doesn’t. She is taken hostage, and he refuses to pay the ransom, so they get into a huge fight and split up after John rescues her.

They first appear in: Episode 4

They play: Another John and Jane, a pair of spies working for the same mysterious syndicate that our John and Jane do.

Do they survive? We’re not sure, actually. They return in Episode 8 to terminate our John and Jane, and the finale ends with a burst of gunfire, but we don’t see who makes it out alive.

Ron Perlman

He first appears in: Episode 5

He plays: Toby, a client who John and Jane are tasked with keeping alive amid a wave of assassination attempts — and whose childish behavior make John and Jane question if they want kids.

Does he survive? Yes, John and Jane manage to get him to safety, but now the whole kids thing is definitely up in the air.

Sarah Paulson
