How much Keir Starmer is worth as he replaces 'richer than the King' Rishi Sunak

Sir Keir Starmer will replace Rishi Sunak as the British Prime Minister after claiming a landslide victory in the General Election.

The Labour leader has previously explained how his working class background "drives his ambition to return respect and dignity back to public life". Starmer grew up the son of a nurse and a toolmaker, adding that his parents' determination to carry on, and care for each other, "instilled in him a strong work ethic and sense of public service."

According to Prolific London, Sir Keir is believed to have a net worth of around £7.7m.

Outgoing PM Mr Sunak's combined personal wealth, along with that of his wife Akshata Murty, rose by £122m last year, according to the Sunday Times Rich List. The couple's fortune was estimated at £651m in May of this year, up from £529m in 2023.

The wealth is said to mainly be due to Ms Murty's shares in Infosys, an IT giant co-founded by her father. According to the Rich List, this means they have more money than King Charles III.
