Brits are currently feeling the heat, with temperatures soaring across the UK after a notably wet and chilly spring.

This has left many struggling to find sleep in the sweltering conditions as a heatwave sweeps across the UK.

Bedrooms that have been basking in sunlight all day become stifling at night, causing restless nights not just for adults but for babies too, who can become particularly unsettled without their usual sleep - something parents will be all too aware of the following day.

A lot of parents can also worry about their babies health in the heatwave, so take necessary precautions so they aren't too hot.

In a stroke of good fortune, parent and TikTok user @ewanandfriends has stepped in with some much-needed advice, offering "tips to keep baby cool in a heatwave", which has led numerous grateful mums to express their thanks.

One concerned mother asked: "Do you have any tips on keeping a newborn cool in this horrendous heatwave please? ", to which the response was: "These tips are the same for a newborn but apply them to your own bedroom as this is where your baby will be sleeping for the first six months."

The top tip provided is to "keep the curtains drawn during the day" to prevent the sun from warming the room excessively, and to "invest in a black-out blind to block the sun".

For those considering using a fan, the advice is not to aim it directly at the baby, but rather "use a fan directed against the wall to circulate the air".

Additionally, she recommends "open the window during the day if it's safe to do so and the air outside is cooler, to help generate a breeze to cool the room".

The mother suggested choosing "lightweight breathable clothes" for dressing up your little one and recommended using items like a 0.5 tog muslin sleeping bag for their bedding. She also mentioned that you can simply rely on a "cotton vest and nappy".

In case your wee one seems thirsty, she proposes to "offer them another feed". And for peace of mind, measuring the temperature of the room and checking their forehead temperature could be helpful.

Impressed parents applauded her wisdom in the comments section, many expressing their adoration for the useful advice.
