Mum's Picture Of Herself In 'Nappy' After Giving Birth Goes Viral

The internet is jam-packed with new mums competing to show the grim reality of motherhood.

Amanda Bacon has taken things to the next level, with this picture of herself fashioning a “giant mom diaper” shortly after the birth of her second child.

Labelled “motherhood uncensored”, Amanda said that she was sharing the image on Facebook because it was “real”.

In the 14 hours since the image was posted, it has received 233,000 likes and 73,000 shares.

Amanda wrote: “This is motherhood; it’s raw, stunning, messy, and freaking hilarious all rolled into one.

"Having a baby is a beautiful experience, and the realities of postpartum life aren’t spoken enough about. And definitely not photographed enough.”

Amanda put that right with this bold image, taken by her husband.

She said: “Some people probably find this uncomfortable, but why? I seriously don’t get it! It’s probably because this part isn’t talked about.

"We all should try and educate, empower and embrace every aspect of childbirth, including moments like this. And do it while having a sense of humor. Nothing says welcome to motherhood like an adorable squishy baby, and a giant mom diaper.”

True, that.

Amanda’s post has so far received more than 57,000 comments, most of which are supportive.

One poster said: “Beautifully said, and beautiful picture, congrats on your new baby and your courage for posting this.”

Another got all nostalgic, saying: “Ahhhhh the mesh panties and pillow sized pads….stuff memories r made of.”

The image was clearly an eye-opener for some, with one chap musing: “I could have gone the entire rest of my life without seeing this. Harsh reality I guess.”

In case anyone was wondering why Amanda’s partner had chosen to share his very personal selfie, the mum made clear in an edit to her post that the decision was all hers: “My husband didn’t post this. He doesn’t even have Facebook. I did.”
