A Roman-themed murder mystery event which transports you 1970 years into the past is set to come to Essex. Don your togas (optional, of course) and get ready for a night of vitriol, vendettas, and vestal virgins. You will enjoy a warm welcome with bubbles and nibbles at the event at Colchester Castle.

The castle also has a bar where you can purchase additional drinks throughout the evening. This murder mystery night offers a unique opportunity for guests to immerse themselves in the world of Ancient Rome and experience the thrill of being a detective in a politically turbulent era.

The scene is set. It’s 54AD in Ancient Rome. Professional actors are ready to guide you through a curious and surprising timeline of events leading up to a murder and you’ll step into a politically volatile world filled with secrets.

Emperor Claudius is gripped by a series of misfortunes: a sudden divorce from his third wife, a questionable bond between his mistress and her son, a mischievous chief eunuch, and an opposing Senate. You will then need to use your detective skills to find out who is responsible for the murder.

The evening promises to be an unforgettable experience full of puzzling details where guests will take on the challenge of collecting clues and uncovering the wrongdoer!

Whether you're a history buff, a murder mystery fan, or just seeking a thrilling and fun night out, this event is one you won't want to miss.”

The event is set to take place on September 21. The 18+ event costs £35 per person. Doors open at 7.30 pm, with an 8.15 pm start.
