Mysterious Chinese database lists ‘breedready’ status of 1.8 million women
A Dutch security researcher has stumbled on a mysterious online Chinese database which lists private details for 1.8 million women including their ‘breedready’ status.
Dutch security expert Victor Gevers of the non-profit GDI.Foundation stumbled on the database while searching for insecure online databases in China.
Gevers told Yahoo News that the database has now gone offline and has disappeared for at least ten hours.
The database lists information such as phone numbers, addresses and ages for women of various ages, many of whom seem to live in Beijing.

The ‘Breedready’ status (which Gevers says may just be poorly translated) seems to relate to a woman’s fertility.
Gevers says, ‘The youngest girl in this database is 15y old. The youngest woman with BreedReady:”1″ status is 18y.
‘The average age is a bit above 32y, and the most aged woman with a BR:1 is 39 and with a BR:0 is 95y. All are single [89%], divorced [10%] or widow[1%].’
In China, they have a shortage of women. So an organization started to build a database to start registering over 1,8 million women with all kinds of details like phone numbers, addresses, education, location, ID number, marital status, and a ”BreedReady" status? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/fbRKsbNHPJ

Most of the women appear to live in Beijing, Gevers said.
It’s not clear whether the database is from a dating app, a government organisation or a private company, Gevers said.
