Yahoo News Mystery & Pole Abound In ‘Rotting In The Sun’ Trailer
The eye-poping new trailer for the queer comedy Rotting in the Sun is here, and believe us you’re going to want to see it.
“If you're doomed to live in torment, nothing can keep you from it. That is your fate.” begins the trailer for Rotting in the Sun. The film is the latest from Writer-director Sebastián Silva (Crystal Fairy, Nasty Baby). The film premiered at Sundance 2023 where it impressed audiences with its biting humor and clever plot twits.
Rotting which is being called a darkly funny and refreshingly audacious meta-comedy takes aim at the business of filmmaking and our — let’s be honest — self-obsessed culture. In the film, Silva is a depressed director who is unwinding at a Mexican gay beach town (and taking in the, ahem, scenery. While on the beach he meets gregarious Instagram influencer Jordan Firstman (played by himself). Charmed by Jordan Sebastián who pours on the compliments about his work, Silva eventually agrees to collaborate on an upcoming project. Then things take a mysterious and bizarre turn. When Jordan arrives back in Mexico City, Sebastián is nowhere has ghosted and has gone MIA. Rather than let it go Jordan embarks on a wildly unpredictable, quasi-detective journey to discover where the influencer has disappeared to.
