Nadine Dorries has been announced as a guest presenter for Piers Morgan Uncensored.

The former culture secretary will sit in for Morgan on 24 and 25 of October during what is a very eventful time in British politics following the resignation of Prime Minister Liz Truss.

In a statement, Dorries said: "I try to avoid TV these days and I’m not one of the MPs you find running across to the cameras on the green or in and out of TV studios but I’m excited about TalkTV and the opportunity to do this during what could turn out to be one of the most eventful weeks we have ever known in British politics."

Dorries will be joined on the show by former editor of the Evening Standard Emily Sheffield who revealed she wanted the MP to host.

She said: "Next week the Conservative Party chooses a new leader again. And when I was asked to co-present Piers Morgan’s show, of which I am a regular contributor, I wanted Nadine Dorries MP to join me. And she immediately agreed."

Meanwhile, the former Good Morning Britain host has offered his opinion on the state of British politics.

Morgan tweeted: "It’s over. Liz Truss is resigning and will become shortest-serving Prime Minister in British history. What an absolute shambles."

He added: "Memo to Tories: Kick out Truss, let @RishiSunak be PM, keep @Jeremy_Hunt as Chancellor, make @PennyMordaunt Home or Foreign Secretary – and pretend the last 40 disastrous days never happened."

Piers Morgan Uncensored airs on weekdays from 8pm on TalkTV.
