Nadine Dorries mocked for praising Liz Truss’ ‘£4.50 Claire’s Accessories earrings’

Culture secretary Nadine Dorries has been mocked online for her comments on Liz Truss’ “Claire’s Accessories earrings.”

Dorries seemed to be hitting out at Tory leadership candidate Rishi Sunak’s expensive wardrobe, while praising his rival Liz Truss’ more modest clothes.

On Monday morning, Dorries tweeted: “LizTruss⁩ will be travelling the country wearing her earrings which cost circa £4.50 from Claire Accessories. Meanwhile…“Rishi visits [Teesside] in Prada shoes worth £450 and sported [a] £3,500 bespoke suit as he prepared for crunch leadership vote.”

It is the latest sign of the bitter, highly personal nature of the Tory leadership battle.
