Naked jogger wearing only hiking boots arrested

A man has been arrested after he was spotted fully naked apart from a pair of walking boots at a popular beauty spot.

Police said the man was seen 'running around' Dunham Massey wearing nothing but the shoes. They said officers have 'had a number of complaints' about the same suspect 'doing this previously and causing alarm'.

It is believed to be the same man who has been spotted running fully nude in the North Staffordshire countryside since August 2020. Among the locations he was seen included the Roaches, near Leek; the Danebridge Trail near Lud's Church; on the Manifold Trail close to Waterhouses; the appropriately-named village of Flash; and Three Shires Head in Axe Edge Moor between Leek and Buxton.

Greater Manchester Police have since arrested the man on suspicion of indecent exposure. In a post on X today (May 2). A spokesman said: "Male arrested for indecent exposure after being seen running around Dunham Massey naked apart from a pair of walking boots!!

"We have had a number of complaints of this guy doing this previously causing alarm, and so action has been taken."

Dunham Massey attracts more than half a million visitors each year. The beauty spot is home to the popular National Trust owned 300-acre deer park, a historic house and buildings and all-season gardens.

Cheshire Police had previously appealed for information about reports of a man running around rural areas ‘with his crown jewels on show’ or obscured by a ‘teeny tiny bum-bag’.

At the time, officers light-heartedly added ‘for clarity’ that their appeal for a description of the ‘naked man running in the hills on the borders of Cheshire, Staffordshire and Derbyshire’ related to his face, rather than any other body parts.
