Nancy MacKenzie Dies: Voice Of Marge Simpson In Latin America Was 81

Nancy MacKenzie, a voice actress best known for dubbing Marge Simpson on The Simpsons to Spanish for Latin American audiences, has died. She was 81.

MacKenzie voiced the animated character for its first 15 seasons in Latin America. Her former co-stars shared the news of her death on social media.

“It is with deep sadness, the Simpson kids (Lisa and Bart), announce the passing of our beloved mom, Marge Simpson (Nancy MacKenzie,” read the Instagram post shared by Patricia Acevedo, who voices Lisa Simpson for Latin America. “Rest in peace. You will never be forgotten.”

The post was accompanied by a video with photos of the Latin American voice cast for The Simpsons throughout the years.

“We will miss you dear mom, until forever,” reads a caption at the end of the video in a scene between Lisa and Marge.

The studio that dubs The Simpsons in Spanish, New Art Group, shared a post honoring the late actress.

“Your voice is and will be part of your legacy,” read the caption of the Facebook post.

Humberto Vélez, who voices Homer Simpson for Latin America, also paid homage to the late MacKenzie.

“Many hours together, working, traveling. A lifetime. It hurts me so much that you are gone, but I celebrate your way of joy, of being free, of living life to the fullest,” Vélez wrote on Instagram. “Thank you for always listening to me, for your unconditional support in the union problem that we go through together. Thank you for the laughs, the debates, the trusts. Thank you for transitioning with me this part of life.”

He continued, “You were, are and will be a fundamental part of the most important labor project of my work. You are many things. You are my wife Marge.”

MacKenzie was born in Lima, Perú, and made a career in México as a voice actress. Aside from voicing Marge on The Simpsons, MacKenzie also lent her voice to Disney villain Cruella de Vil, Daphne in The Thirteen Ghosts of Scooby-Do, and Sailor Galaxia in Sailor Moon Cosmos. She also dubbed many famous actresses like Bette Midler, Diane Keaton, Sigourney Weaver, and Judi Dench.
