Yahoo News Napoli confirm decision on Hamed Traore
NAPOLI have confirmed Hamed Traore will leave the club following the end of his loan spell.
Traore joined the Italian outfit from Cherries in January, until the end of the season.
There was understood to be a clause in the deal which would have allowed Napoli turn the deal permanent for a fee of around £20million.
However, after an underwhelming spell in Naples, where Traore featured under two different managers, the club have opted against purchasing the Ivory Coast international.
Attacking midfielder Traore made 11 appearances for Napoli, including two in the Champions League, but failed to register a goal or assist.
But the 24-year-old will now return to Cherries for pre-season, Napoli confirming Traore is among six players who will be leaving the club.
They said: “Our most sincere thanks go for the commitment and professionalism demonstrated during the their time spent in Naples and best wishes for their personal and professional future.”
Traore is under contract with Cherries until 2028.
Since arriving from Sassuolo in January 2023, initially on loan before a £21million permanent switch, Traore has played 13 times for Cherries, scoring one goal.
Discussing the decision to loan out Traore, Cherries head coach Andoni Iraola said: “He is one of the players we haven’t found the good combinations of players around him, or a good moment to put him in the starting XI.
“You can’t give the minutes to everyone.”
