Natalie Portman and John Krasinski make man's day as they film in Liverpool
A man's day was made when he spotted Natalie Portman and John Krasinski filming their new big budget movie in Liverpool.
Nathan Schofield was making his way home from Crewe after a day away on work training. The 26-year-old support worker spotted filming was underway for a project at St George's Hall as he made his way to the train station on the way back to Bebington.
He told the ECHO: "I was making my way home and I got stopped by a security guard outside a big Warner Bros truck. I asked him why I couldn't go through and he just said they were filming an action scene for a film.
"So I just stuck around because I've always loved films and I wanted to be an actor when I was younger." However, Nathan was amazed when filming commenced and he spotted two Hollywood stars were involved.
In the clip, Natalie and John can be spotted racing away in a vintage convertible sports car. Nathan added: "I don't know if I was supposed to say something because they were really close.
"Natalie Portman looked a bit awkward and I felt a bit awkward not realising how close they would come over. I gave John a little wave and he waved back and my mum was made up with that because she loves The Office."
He added: "I was waiting for around 20 minutes. They did two takes and they were there for about 25 minutes. They said end of scene and then everyone left all of a sudden."
The ECHO understands filming is part of the shoot for upcoming heist film, Fountain of Youth, directed by Guy Ritchie. Nathan said it's great Merseyside has become such a hotbed for high profile films and said his celebrity encounter didn't truly set in until he was on the train back.
He said: "It's not something that I'm used to encountering and I didn't expect it when I woke up this morning. It didn't sink in until after.
"They both looked beautiful. I went home with a smile on my face because it's the first time I've seen a big film production close up. [On the set] there were couple of film fanatics around who also bumped into it so I feel it made a lot of people's day."
Nathan said it was the icing on the cake as he also made a new friend at the shoot as he started chatting to aspiring producer, Kyle Macdonald. Nathan is an aspiring musician and the two have now set sights on collaborating on a project.
He said: "We got each other's contacts so might work together one day. I made a friend out of it who is also into the same things as I am and also had a bit of a weird celebrity encounter."
