Stoke City fan Nathan Heaney is not expected to fight at the bet365 Stadium this summer. Stoke-on-Trent City Council has applied for a boxing licence for the bet365 Stadium ahead of any Nathan Heaney fight.

But the bout is 'now looking like 2025'. It comes as the Fenton fighter is waiting for the date of his next fight to be officially announced.

The Hitman is the current British middleweight champion. He has a record of 18 wins and one draw - with six knockouts. The draw came in his last bout against Brad Pauls.

In a social media message to fans, the 35-year-old said: "Stoke City Football Club have been absolutely brilliant in working with Frank and George Warren over the last few months and the club are fully on board in bringing the biggest sporting event our city may ever see. But it's now looking like it will be 2025 when this will happen.

"I really wish it was happening this summer and it's another year I have to stay focused, undefeated, and bring new titles to my city, but it certainly gets harder each time. I can only thank you guys for your patience and support in backing me all the way. I will do my absolute best to finally get us there.

"Aside to that, I have been told there's a date for our next event, but I'm waiting for all to be confirmed before I share anything out. We'll be back soon and we have some massive nights ahead on the route to coming home."
