Today marks the biggest day in the fish and chip calendar. For the ninth year in a row, National Fish & Chip Day is back.

Organised by the National Edible Oil Distributor’s Association (NEODA), who have joined forces with industry leaders Middleton Foods and the Hook and Fish Packaging Range, this year's celebration is not taking place on its traditional Friday slot.

This is so they can honour all those involved in the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings. Gary Lewis, President of NEODA, said: "National Fish & Chip Day has always brought the nation together to celebrate this iconic dish, and because of the intrinsic links it has always had with the World Wars and D Day, we decided to move the date to show our support."

Given that it's National Fish & Chip Day, here are five of the best chippies in Cheshire:

The venue is rated as four stars out of five on Tripadvisor following almost 485 reviews. Nearly 300 of those gave it top marks.
