National Lottery winner who won £3.6 million 'won't see penny' due to 'small print rule'

A National Lottery winner won £3.6million National Lottery jackpot but a small print rule means they won’t see a penny. A man who won a £3.6million National Lottery jackpot says his life has only gone downhill after being denied the cash.

Kirk Stevens and his partner Laura Hoyle won £10,000 a month for 30 years in a Set For Life draw. But within a year after they landed the whopping payout back in 2021, Laura dumped Steven and took all the winnings.

The 40-year-old moved alone into the £500,000 mansion the couple had planned to share - claiming the winning ticket because it had been bought using her card. Kirk told The Sun: "Laura had told me we’d live the life of Riley if we won."

He added: "People used to ask me why I never quit my job as an engineer. I liked having a sense of purpose, something to get up for each morning. But it was more than that. The truth was, I never felt secure enough with Laura to give up my job.

"I could feel her pulling away from me - and things went from bad to worse." He said: "We had plans for the future. We were going to buy properties together and build an empire." Kirk said: “I wanted to try to fix it but Laura wasn’t interested. It was like the money gave her confidence to throw it all away.

"When it became clear we were not going to work things out, I asked her: ‘What about our Lottery win?’ She said, ‘It’s not ours, it’s mine’." Kirk went ont o the Sun newspaper and also said: "I just want ten per cent.

"If she continues to pay me £1,000 a month, I’ll happily walk away. She will not even notice it."
