National Weather Service Employee Takes a Spill as Winter Weather Grips Northeastern Maine

A National Weather Service (NWS) employee took a spill en route to the office as winter weather gripped northeastern Maine on Thursday, March 9.

Footage posted to the NWS Caribou Twitter page shows the employee slipping on an icy patch outside the service’s office in Caribou, Maine.

The NWS said, “patches of ice are hiding under the little bit of freshly fallen snow, and the slip-and-fall hazard is seriously underestimated in these situations.”

The service also issued a hazardous weather outlook for later this week, forecasting snow accumulations and strong winds in the region. Credit: NWS Caribou via Storyful
