Nationwide urgent £100 message issued to customers

Nationwide customers are being told they only have hours left to claim a £100 free cash payment. The money is not available for all Nationwide customers - but nearly four million have got it.

The cash has been paid out as part of the building society's Fairer Share scheme to help customers with the cost of living. Money started entering bank accounts on June 13 and the final date for payments is today, Friday, June 28.

It is likely Nationwide will have contacted you if you are eligible for one of the special payments, either via the banking app, post or email. Anyone who hasn't yet received the money still could do today.

To qualify for a payment, you must hold a qualifying current account and either a qualifying savings or mortgage product. You must have held these two accounts on March 31 this year and still have had it open this month.

The following current accounts will qualify you for the payment:

  • FlexPlus

  • FlexOne

  • FlexStudent

  • FlexGraduate

  • FlexAccount

  • FlexDirect

  • FlexBasic

The £100 payment will show up as "Nationwide Fairer Share Payment" on your bank statement, so customers will be able to see if they have received one. If you haven't received a payment by the end of today, it's likely you are a Nationwide customer who does not qualify for the support.

Nationwide said it had already made 99.9% of the payments.
