NBA Player Patty Mills Teams With Streetwear Label Ksubi on Workwear-inspired Capsule Collection

Patty Mills is continuing his partnership with Ksubi with a new collaboration.

The Miami Heat point guard, who is originally from Australia, is teaming up with Australian streetwear label Ksubi for a 12-piece collection debuting on Tuesday. The men’s and women’s collection fuses workwear with contemporary fashion styles.

“The design process was a lot of fun to be involved in,” Mills said. “The inspiration for the collection stemmed from traditional workwear and the rugged fashion of those who worked on boats, railway lines, in mines and around nature. Memories of family members in sturdy denim as they embarked on their diving expeditions served as an anchor for our vision. I shared with Ksubi the memories of the hardworking men and women who shaped my upbringing in Australia. These stories and images inspired a design concept focused on earthy hues and weathered denim and fabrics. The inclusion of authentic utility textures, and details like brass buckles and buttons, intricate stitching, and ample pockets perfectly married fashion and authentic workwear.”

The collection includes several styles in Ksubi’s signature distressed denim, such as a denim jacket and patchwork-embellished jeans, which are both designed in a custom-developed wash. The collection also gives a nod to Mills’ NBA career with a graphic Ksubi basketball jersey featuring Mills’ name and number.

Mills also leveraged his signature phrase, “Be Where Your Feet Are,” for several of the styles, including T-shirts and hoodies.

“The collection reflects my own style in many ways,” Mills said. “I gravitate towards functional fashion, neutral and earthy tones along with key pieces that can be worn with everyday basics and high fashion alike. I am often seen wearing monochromatic and denim-on-denim outfits. I appreciate clothing you can wear with sneakers, or utility boots, both of which are a staple in my wardrobe.”

The collection’s women’s styles are also designed with a workwear inspiration. There are several denim pieces, such as oversized jeans and a jean skirt, as well as crop tops with utilitarian-inspired buckle details.

Mills’ capsule collection with Ksubi follows the NBA players’ recent eyewear collaboration with the Australian brand in May. The collection, which was Ksubi’s first in the eyewear category, included four sunglasses styles.
