Ndombele involved in chaos, 'Agent Reguilon' helps Postecoglou and young Tottenham star shines

Just over a month or so remains of the season for Tottenham's large group of loan players as they begin to contemplate what the next campaign holds for them.

Spurs have sent players out this season on loan to clubs across England in the Premier League and Football League as well as abroad to countries such as Turkey, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany and Italy. Eric Dier and Ivan Perisic also went on loan to Bayern Munich and Hajduk Split respectively, with both agreeing to join those clubs permanently this summer when their contracts at the north London club come to an end.

Here's how all of Tottenham's other 12 loan players have got on over the past week:

Tanguy Ndombele (Galatasaray)

Tanguy Ndombele was involved in the most chaotic match of the weekend - the Turkish Super Cup final on Sunday. Galatasaray were set to take on Fenerbahce in the showpiece event but instead the latter side fielded their under-19 team before walking off a minute into the game in protest at what they felt was unfair treatment.

Fenerbahce had asked for the final, already rescheduled from December, to be postponed to help them prepare for their Europa League quarter-final against Olympiakos on Thursday night. However, their pleas went unanswered so they sent a youth team to the final and then they left the pitch after just a minute, in which time Mauro Icardi had already given Galatasaray the lead after 50 seconds.

The win was awarded to Galatasaray but the day was not yet finished as then they sent out their own reserves to play against their first team in order for the fans who had purchased tickets to at least watch some form of football. Ndombele was spotted playing in the friendly game wearing his trademark beanie hat, which he would often sport even in the hottest of temperatures in Spurs training.

Djed Spence (Genoa)

Djed Spence came off the bench for the final 12 minutes of Genoa's 2-1 victory at Hellas Verona on Sunday.

The 23-year-old right-back has been used on both flanks since arriving in Italy but he came on as a wing-back on his preferred right side to help Genoa hold on to their lead against the Serie A strugglers. He only had seven touches of the ball in that time but made three clearances and had a pass success rate of 100% - admittedly from just one pass.

Spence has played in nine matches in Serie A, getting 455 minutes to his name, which is more than he got across seven appearances at Leeds in the first half of this season and far more than his few Spurs minutes before that.

Sergio Reguilon (Brentford)

Tottenham had plenty to thank Sergio Reguilon for as the Spaniard had one of his best games of the season in helping Brentford come back from 2-0 down to draw 3-3 at Aston Villa.

Back in the team with his first start since his recent suspension, the Spaniard grabbed two assists at Villa Park on the day. He played a part in the build-up to the first Brentford goal before crossing for Bryan Mbeumo to volley home their second. Reguilon then teed up Yoane Wissa to finish calmly and put the visitors into the lead after a burst of three goals in just nine minutes.

Villa managed to find a late equaliser but the draw enabled Spurs to leapfrog them into fourth place with their win against Nottingham Forest the following day with Agent Reguilon's work done.

Alejo Veliz (Sevilla)

Alejo Veliz had some time off within a fortnight of training with the Sevilla players as they had no fixture at the weekend.

The Copa del Rey final between Athletic Club and Mallorca, which the former won on penalties, meant their originally scheduled La Liga games were postponed so for Veliz and Sevilla it meant a weekend off.

The young Argentine has struggled for game time in Spain and he will be hoping that when Sevilla return to action next Sunday with a game at Las Palmas he will get on the pitch for his first minutes in more than a month.

Joe Rodon (Leeds United)

Joe Rodon and Leeds fell to their first Championship defeat of 2024 as Coventry ended Daniel Farke's side's 15-game unbeaten league run with a 2-1 win at the weekend.

The 26-year-old Wales international could only watch on as Haji Wright got into acres of space left behind him to knock in Coventry's second goal which proved to be the winner.

Leeds Live still handed the centre-back a seven in their player ratings with the review: "Has to take his share of the blame in a bizarre, embarrassing second goal for Haji Wright. Aside from that, he was superb again and mopped up so much danger which came United's way, especially in the first half."

Rodon will likely be starting again on Tuesday evening as Leeds host Sunderland in the Championship. The defender has played 42 times for Leeds this season as a near ever-present with 3,664 minutes to his name in a campaign that has really reignited his reputation.

Troy Parrott (Excelsior Rotterdam)

Troy Parrott remains out with his quad injury and has now missed out on Excelsior Rotterdam's past five matches in the Eredivisie.

football.london has previously reported that clubs in Serie A, the Bundesliga and the Championship are monitoring the 22-year-old's situation at the north London club. The Republic of Ireland international has a contract with Spurs until 2025 and there is understood to be an option within it for the club to extend that by another year.

Japhet Tanganga (Millwall)

Japhet Tanganga's regular game time continued as Millwall slipped to a 1-0 defeat at fellow strugglers Huddersfield on Saturday.

The 25-year-old managed one key pass, won two aerial duels, completed five clearances, two interceptions and blocked two shots but he could not prevent Millwall from falling to defeat.

Tanganga will be up against fellow Spurs academy product Harry Winks on Tuesday night as Millwall travel to the King Power Stadium to take on Leicester.

After a first half to the season with no game time at all at Augsburg, Tanganga has played 13 games for Millwall with 1,102 minutes to his name and has started nearly every match.

Alfie Devine and Ashley Phillips (Plymouth Argyle)

Ashley Phillips played the full 90 minutes as Plymouth Argyle, playing under director of football Neil Dewsnip and first team coach Kevin Nancekivell following Ian Foster's exit, picked up a much-needed 1-0 win at fellow relegation-threatened Rotherham in the Championship on Friday.

Alfie Devine was suspended from the game after receiving the first red card of his senior career in the 1-0 home defeat to Bristol City, a result which ultimately cost Foster his job.

Phillips received a seven from Plymouth Live's player ratings for the win at Rotherham with the review: "Such was Rotherham's lacklustre attacking play that Phillips and his defensive colleagues were not over-stretched in dealing with any danger."

Devine and Phillips will both hope to be involved as Plymouth host QPR on Tuesday night in another big basement battle.

Matthew Craig (Doncaster Rovers)

Matthew Craig got 90 minutes under his belt in the centre of midfield as Doncaster won convincingly 3-0 at Morecambe to continue their recent fine form.

The 20-year-old Scotland Under-21s international has really impressed on loan and has found himself a regular place in the heart of a midfield that has spearheaded a run of six victories on the trot for Grant McCann's side.

The young defensive midfielder has played 13 times for in League Two, with one goal and one assist, and has 1,047 minutes to his name.

Josh Keeley (Barnet)

Josh Keeley, 20, was between the sticks as Barnet salvaged a last-gasp point with a late penalty in a 2-2 draw at Maidenhead United in the National League.

The Republic of Ireland U21s goalkeeper will be hoping to start in a big match on Tuesday night as second-placed Barnet host third-placed Bromley, who sit five points behind them with a game in hand.

Sam Archer (Barton Rovers)

Tottenham's Under-18s goalkeeper Sam Archer has now kept four clean sheets in a row since being sent on a short-term work experience loan to get first team exposure with Barton Rovers in Southern League Central Division One.

The 17-year-old has enjoyed an excellent spell at the non-league side and the weekend brought another fine performance in the 0-0 draw at home against Waltham Abbey.
