Manchester United winger Antony has been condemned by Brentford striker Neal Maupay for his celebration following the FA Cup semi-final penalty shootout victory against Coventry City on Sunday.

After being pegged back from 3-0 up by the Sky Blues, United managed to overcome their second-tier opponents on penalties 4-2 with Rasmus Hojlund scoring the decisive spot-kick. After the tense shootout ended, there were subdued celebrations by the United players in recognition of the scare they had just received.

However, second-half substitute Antony took the opportunity to goad the opposition by cupping his ears towards them as he ran over to celebrate with Hojlund. This decision has been widely condemned by fans and pundits with Maupay becoming the latest personality to criticise the Brazilian.

In a tweet sharing the footage, Maupay wrote: "Just for the record, not even I would do this." The 27-year-old has earned a reputation for his behaviour on the football pitch this season.

During Brentford's defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, Maupay performed James Maddison's darts celebration in front of the opposition fans after scoring much to the anger of the Spurs players. During a clash with Manchester City, Maupay was accused of mentioning Kyle Walker's children in a heated altercation on the pitch.

The Frenchman has since denied this, telling The Times: "The people who know me, they know I wouldn’t say something like that, but it is a bit unfair because if I don’t talk then people will think I’m guilty. I’m not going to say [what I said to Walker] but, if you read my lips properly and find out, everyone would laugh."

Antony has endured a poor season for United managing just two goals and two assists. One of his goals came in the FA Cup away at League Two's Newport County.
