Neighbours' Alan Fletcher in the dark about new series and says everyone is 'tight-lipped'

Neighbours star Alan Fletcher has revealed he’s in the dark when it comes to details about the new series of the Aussie soap.

The much-loved show was cancelled in 2022 after 37 years, and bowed out with a huge finale that saw old favourites like Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue return to Ramsay Street.

However, Amazon Freevee stepped in and is set to deliver a new series.

But the actor, who stars as Dr Karl Kennedy, revealed he doesn't know much yet and that everyone is being “very tight-lipped”.

”Fortunately, I know nothing,” he told TV Tonight.

“All I know is what has been announced in the media. Everyone’s very tight-lipped about the future for the show.”

Fletcher said that getting the soap back into production was a big job and that everyone behind the show had to just take it “step by step” and that he wasn’t aware of any specific deadlines.

However, he assured fans that they would be able to tune back into the antics on Ramsay Street “by the latter part” of this year.

Several Neighbours veterans are set to return for the new series of the soap, including Jackie Woodburne as Susan and Stefan Dennis as Paul Robinson.

Ryan Moloney will also be reprising the role of Toadie in the show.

The soap wrapped up in July last year but just months later in November a tweet from its official account announced: "Breaking News from Erinsborough! Neighbours will return for a brand-new series next year exclusively on @AmazonFreevee, alongside thousands of episodes from previous seasons to stream as you please."
