Neil Buchanan wants an 'Art Attack' return

Neil Buchanan has said he would be up for a return to Art Attack with CITV set to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

In a new interview with Metro to promote his scheme with easyjet to promote on flight arts and crafts, Buchanan expressed a desire to do the iconic 90s show again.

He said: "It’s funny actually. Just recently I have thought about that sort of thing. It’s the 30th anniversary of Art Attack, so I would be open to that. Of course I would."

Buchanan, who also created the show, added: "That would be great fun, as long as I could do it with the people who did it with me before."

Despite Art Attack being one of the most popular children's TV shows of the 1990s and early 2000's, Buchanan confessed that he had never been asked to front a potential revival.

He said: "It’s funny actually, because no one’s ever asked me that. You’ve got me thinking about it now. No one has ever said to me, 'Would you come back and do it again?' The answer is yes, I would."

The BAFTA winning Art Attack premiered in 1990 on CITV and in its original form ran until 2007 with Buchanan presenting every episode.

After he sold the rights to the show for £14m, a reboot launched on Disney Junior in 2011 hosted by Jassa Ahluwalia and later Lloyd Warbey.

The reboot ran for 97 episodes until it was cancelled in 2015.

Buchanan's other TV work includes It's a Mystery, Finders Keepers and Motormouth. After Art Attack ended in 2007, Buchanan didn't appear on TV again until he made a guest appearance on Celebrity Juice to talk about the show.

Away from TV, Buchanan was previously a member of the heavy metal band Marseille where he played lead guitar.
