Neil Lennon reignites Philippe Clement feud as Celtic hero tells boss HE doesn't understand Rangers 'expectations'

Bullish Neil Lennon reckons Philippe Clement has been "taken aback" by the expectations of Rangers fans amid the title fight with Celtic.

The Irishman previously incurred the wrath of the Ibrox boss in February as he questioned whether their rivals have the correct mindset to topple the Hoops this term - with Clement firing back at the Celtic legend that the barb had only served to motivate his side and propel them towards the title. However, after catching Brendan Rodgers' side Rangers have stumbled in the title race with defeat to Ross County and a goalless stalemate with Dundee.

That has seen Lennon flag questions again about the mental strength of the Light Blues - as he admitted alarm bells were ringing for him after the 3-3 draw with Celtic despite a late fight-back from the hosts at Ibrox. He told PLZ: "I had my suspicions about Rangers after the game against Celtic.

"I thought in the first half they were poor, mentally as well. They put in a good comeback, but overall I was concerned about the level of performance. That is come to the fore. They have totally handed the initiative to Celtic, and Celtic have been there and done it."

Dressing room leaders like James Tavernier and Connor Goldson have been subject to heavy criticism from the support amid the stuttering title bid - but Lennon reckons it's the Belgian that isn't getting it at this stage of his Ibrox career. He said: "I think the players know all about the expectations.

"I think Philippe is finding out all about it more than any of the players. A lot of the players have been there for a long, long time. Now all of a sudden he has come into this and everything was good for a while, but I think he has been taken aback by the scrutiny and the analysis of every facet of your performance."
