Yahoo News Netflix Exec Says Kim Kardashian Did Not Ask for Boos to Be Removed From Tom Brady Roast
Kim Kardashian was met with resounding boos at Netflix’s roast of Tom Brady — but you’d never know it unless you watched it live.
The streamer has edited out the portion of the roast where Kardashian was booed, TVLine has confirmed. (The Hollywood Reporter first noted the change.) In Sunday’s original live broadcast, Kardashian was booed loudly as she took the stage at the roast, stopping midway through her first joke to glare at the crowd as several of her fellow roasters came to her defense. But in the version currently streaming on Netflix, the booing is nowhere to be found. (The roast now comes with a label reading “edited from a previous livestream.”)

Robbie Praw, Netflix’s vice president of stand-up and comedy formats, has explained to THR the decision to edit out the boos, emphasizing that Kardashian had no input in the choice.
“Post edits are standard practice for comedy specials and happen in live broadcasts, whether that’s subtitles, adding things or removing things that we can’t do when it’s streaming live,” Praw said. “It’s part of, quite frankly, the fun of watching it live to not miss those things. But I will just say this, in addition to that, that no talent were consulted as part of that.”
When asked to clarify whether Kardashian had asked for the booing to be removed, Praw said she did not.
During Sunday’s roast, Kardashian went on to take jabs at host Kevin Hart and addressed rumors about her and Brady dating (“I’d never say if we did or not. I’d just release a tape”), adding: “I think it’s so great the way that you’re showing everyone that even after winning seven Super Bowls, you can still have a midlife crisis.” But Kardashian’s comedy set ultimately clocked in at a measly three minutes, versus the eight to 10 minutes other roasters got.
The roast also featured appearances from comedians Jeff Ross and Nikki Glaser, Brady’s former teammates Randy Moss and Rob Gronkowski and Will Ferrell reprising his Anchorman role as Ron Burgundy. The full roast (minus the boos) is now streaming on Netflix.
