Television enthusiasts are raising alarms about Netflix's latest gripping entry into the true crime genre.

Released on June 26, the second instalment of Worst Roommate Ever has viewers glued to their screens as it unfolds chilling narratives of deceptively innocuous flatmates who reveal their sinister sides. Each of the four harrowing episodes in this docu-series unveils a different criminal roommate's story, ranging from poisonings to aggressive Airbnb hosts, laying bare the frightening truth that one can never fully know someone, not even when sharing a living space.

Netflix describes Season two of Worst Roommate Ever with a spine-tingling summary: "Worst Roommate Ever returns for season 2 and once again highlights harrowing tales of seemingly harmless roommates turning into real-life nightmares for their unsuspecting victims when their malevolent and sometimes violent intentions are revealed. These unsettling true stories chronicle the masked menace that can be lurking right down the hall."

As the series grips the nation, fans have taken to social media to share their astonishment and advise caution to those daring enough to dive into the series.

A viewer cautioned on social media, saying: "I wish people would believe a person is no good the first time they show it! " Another forewarned future watchers with a stark message advising them to brace for an infuriating watch, saying the show "will p**s you off terribly", reports the Daily Star.

A third fan exclaimed: "Worst Roommate Ever is a show that further confirms why I will never do roommates. Idc idc. These ppl are insane." (sic)

Meanwhile, another was equally shocked: "Worst Roommate Ever is probably the craziest documentary show I ever watched like wtf." (sic)

The docuseries 'Worst Roommate Ever' delves into the harrowing experience of Rachel and her once close friend Janie Lynn Ridd. The pair, who became housemates in 1995 when Rachel was just 22, initially shared a deep friendship.

Rachel recounted how she trusted Janie enough to make her the beneficiary of a "very large" life insurance policy after the birth of her son Ryder, with Janie envisaged as a potential guardian due to her role as a "second mother".

However, their bond soured over time, leading to a disturbing point where Janie tried to sue Rachel for custody of her son while Rachel was incapacitated following a severe back operation. Despite a temporary reconciliation and moving back together, the situation only worsened.

In 2019, the tension between them reached a chilling peak. Rachel reported that after Janie helped her to bed and administered her medication, she found herself in hospital with dangerously low blood sugar levels - a mysterious incident that repeated itself on two later occasions, baffling doctors.

Simultaneously, FBI agents were investigating an attempt to purchase a lethal bacteria known as Vancomycin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (VRSA) via the Dark Web, which led them to uncover alarming links to Janie.

Following further investigation, it was later determined that Janie had attempted to murder her roommate on five separate occasions within a year.
