Supacell fans are threatening to cancel their memberships unless a second season is delivered.

The sci-fi drama, based in South London, is currently the number one TV show globally on the streamer. Created by Rapman, it centres on the lives of five black Londoners who discover they have superpowers.

The Jay-Z-approved series has been described as a cross between gangster series Top Boy and hit superhero show Misfits. Supacell stars Tosin Cole as Michael Lasaki, a van driver who's head-over-heels in love with life - and fiancée Dionne.

His dream future is soon snatched away when he discovers he can time travel.

He quickly learns that Dionne's life is in danger and must find four others who've also developed superpowers in order to save Dionne's life. The unlikely bunch of newbie superheroes are figuring out exactly what their powers mean, and why they have them.

Supacell tackles a number of themes including knife crime, racial profiling and sickle cell - a blood disorder which impacts some 17,000 people in England. Rapman serves as showrunner, executive producer and director, calling the shots on episodes one, two and six. Episodes three, four and five are handled by Sebastian Thiel.

The six-part series has racked up a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score from critics - and now fans are demanding more. So much so, they're even threatening to delete Netflix if the show gets cancelled.

Writing on the Netflix Bangers Facebook page, one person reckoned: "Definitely need them to drop part 2 asap. if Netflix cancels this I’m deleting the app forever…" Over on X, formerly Twitter, @Swandynasty agreed, writing: "@netflix IF YOU ALL CANCEL -#Supacell then YOU are cancelled!! Cuz I’m not having it. This show was soooo good and the representation was chefs kiss!!!"

@unclone14 agreed: "Netflix if y’all cancel Supacell I’m unsubscribing" as @J_RStewart wrote: "Netflix better NOT cancel #Supacell before we get a proper ending. & a couple seasons."

@yaymatthieu tweeted: "Netflix has to release season two of #Supacell" while @x_danielle_xox threatened: "If I don't get a season two of #Supacell, I'm quitting @netflix forever... 6 episodes wasn't enough!"

As for whether Supacell will be getting a second season, it's too early to tell since the series has only just been released. The decision to renew the show will depend on several factors, including its popularity among viewers.

However, showrunner Rapman previously hinted at future seasons in an interview with Radio Times, saying: "For the beginning of the show, I always tell everyone that season one of Supacell to me is like Batman Begins. It's just beginning. You've got to see where it goes next to see who these people really are."

Supacell is available to stream now on Netflix.
