Fans of the work of novelist Daphne du Maurier will be no doubt pleased to hear her classic gothic tale Rebecca has been adapted for the screen and out on Netflix now.
Netflix is streaming new screen version of the book, which was first published in 1938 and adapted into an Oscar-winning film by Alfred Hitchcock in 1940.

Rebecca on Netflix: What's it about?
For those who aren't yet familiar with the story, Netflix summarises the series as "a mesmerising and gorgeously rendered psychological thriller based on Daphne du Maurier’s beloved 1938 gothic novel."
The summary adds:
"After a whirlwind romance in Monte Carlo with handsome widower Maxim de Winter (Armie Hammer), a newly married young woman (Lily James) arrives at Manderley, her new husband’s imposing family estate on a windswept English coast. Naive and inexperienced, she begins to settle into the trappings of her new life, but finds herself battling the shadow of Maxim’s first wife, the elegant and urbane Rebecca, whose haunting legacy is kept alive by Manderley’s sinister housekeeper Mrs. Danvers (Kristin Scott Thomas)."
Rebecca on Netflix: Who’s in it?
Downton Abbey and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again actor Lily James will star in the lead role of Mrs de Winter. Armie Hammer (Call Me By Your Name) will star opposite as Maxim de Winter, a man seemingly obsessed with the memory of his late wife, Rebecca.
Also starring are Kristin Scott Thomas, Keeley Hawes, Ann Dowd, Sam Riley and Ben Crompton.
