Netflix Reveals Official ‘3 Body Problem’ Trailer

Netflix revealed the official trailer for the upcoming sci-fi series 3 Body Problem, which hails from Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss, along with True Blood writer-producer Alexander Woo.

The show is adapted from author Liu Cixin’s celebrated Remembrance of Earth’s Past trilogy, which tells the story of humanity preparing for an alien invasion. The trailer was unveiled Tuesday at CES in Las Vegas to fans attending the 3 Body Problem immersive experience.

“What we are hoping to do is to convey the experience — if not necessarily the exact details — of the novel onto the screen,” Woo said. “What stayed, we hope, is the sense of wonderment and the sense of scope, of scale, where the problems are no longer just the problems of an individual or even a nation, but of an entire species.”

Netflix also released a character guide for the first time that explained which actors were playing which roles.

The series is the first drama series from Benioff and Weiss since HBO’s Thrones concluded its eight-season run in 2019.

The show’s description: “A young woman’s fateful decision in 1960s China reverberates across space and time into the present day. When the laws of nature inexplicably unravel before their eyes, a close-knit group of brilliant scientists join forces with an unorthodox detective to confront the greatest threat in humanity’s history.”

The series stars Jovan Adepo, John Bradley, Rosalind Chao, Liam Cunningham, Eiza González, Jess Hong, Marlo Kelly, Alex Sharp, Sea Shimooka, Zine Tseng, Saamer Usmani, Benedict Wong and Jonathan Pryce.

3 Body Problem premieres March 21 on Netflix.
