Netherlands Eurovision act Joost Klein 'banned' from rehearsals as incident investigated

Netherlands Eurovision act Joost Klein was pulled from rehearsals at the last minute on Friday afternoon 'until further notice.' after an 'incident' that is now being investigated by organisers.

Joost has been a big favourite with fans on the Eurovision circuit this with his track Europapa, with him performing last in Eurovision semi final 2 on Thursday night and then making it through as one of 10 qualifiers for Saturday night's grand final. However, the singer's preparations for the finale have now been thrown into disarray, after he was removed from a dress rehearsals for Friday night's jury final.

In a statement shared with the PA, the European Broadcasting Union said: "We are currently investigating an incident that was reported to us involving the Dutch artist. He will not be rehearsing until further notice. We have no further comment at this time and will update in due course.”

Joost took part in the initial flag parade before then disappearing from the stage and not returning. His absence came after he interrupted a press conference on Thursday night when Israel's act Eden Golan was asked a question by a journalist. The member of the media asked the 20-year-old singer: "Have you ever thought that by being here you bring risk and danger for other participants and public?"

Sitting beside her, a moderator told her she 'didn't have to' but then Joost was heard retorting: "Why not?"

In the latest odds on Eurovision winner, updated on Friday morning, Netherlands was 8th in the odds, while Israel had climbed all the way up to second place.
