Most babies sleep through their newborn photo shoots — but 7-day-old Trent Martin Mundy was wide awake and throwing shade on May 10.

"I had a good laugh, and my husband as well," his mom, Jessica Mundy, 35, tells PEOPLE. "It's adorable to see such a disgusted look on such a little face."

Baby Trent napped the entire drive from his home in Hamilton, Ohio, to Lauren Carson's Drawing in Light Photography Studio in Cincinnati. The photographer specializes in photos of sweet, swaddled, sleepy babies. Normally, she tries to get newborns to snooze during the shoots — but after that rest in the car, Trent was wide awake.

Despite his alert state and obvious disdain for the camera, Carson swaddled Trent and decided to see what would happen.

“He just started staring at me and giving me those looks,” says Carson, 40. “As soon as I took the pictures, I knew they were going to be my favorites.”

During the 15-minute photo shoot, he was “consistently grumpy” in his facial expressions, the photographer says.

“While we were taking his pictures, I was giggling the whole time because he was just giving me these looks,” Carson says. “It was hilarious.”

She says she loves when babies' personalities shine through.

"Every baby is cute when they're sleeping and they look so sweet and peaceful, but when they're awake and giving you expressions like baby Trent did, you could just see pieces of who they are already,” Carson adds. “He's just very expressive ... He was the sweetest little thing. I know he looks grumpy, but he actually really wasn't."

His mom loves that her son’s expression made so many people laugh once it took off on social media.

“I saw one comment of somebody that said that they've put it as their wallpaper on their work computer so they could get a good laugh if they're having a hard day at work,” his mom says. “It’ll be fun to see what he thinks about them when he gets older.”
