Newcastle pub gets starring role in star studded United kit launch as Eddie Howe calls in

It's a place known to many Newcastle fans for being a matchday must and now a city centre pub has landed a starring role in the video for United's new kit launch, after a visit from Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall.

After the cat was let out of the bag with the earlier than expected release of the final episode of NUFC's Prime Video documentary last year, it was officially confirmed that sporting giants Adidas, famous for producing the kits for the mid-late 90s Entertainers era, had secured a new partnership with the club, much to the delight of Magpies supporters.

The last time United players donned Adidas black and white stripes was 13 years ago, in the Championship winning 2009/10 season and on Friday morning, there was queues around the block as the club's pop up store opened its doors to sell the new strip at 8am.

The already substantial hype surrounding the kit was added to with the release of a trailer of Thursday night. Set to a newly reworked version of The Blaydon Races, the black and white teaser features a whole host of Newcastle United players, with Alexander Isak seen walking a dog down a street and Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes watching footage of a classic match.

Narrated by club legend Alan Shearer, the video also sees Eddie and Jason inside legendary NUFC supporter pub The Strawberry, wearing some of the new Adidas training gear. The closest pub to St James' Park, sitting just opposite the ground, The Strawberry is a massive favourite with fans and is packed out every single match day, with Sam Fender famously getting behind the bar on the night that the takeover was announced in 2021.

The Strawberry isn't the only well known Tyneside venue to be featured in the commercial either, with fans also instantly recognising the inside of King Street Social Club in North Shields, as players including Anthony Gordon and Dan Burn filmed scenes there.
