Red Bull has announced the Red Bull Tyne Ride, the world's toughest urban head-to-head motorcycle race, is coming to Newcastle Quayside. Taking place on Saturday August 3, the event is the result of a collaboration between Red Bull and four-time FIM SuperEnduro World Champion and Red Bull athlete, Billy Bolt, who is from Wallsend.

Bringing head-to-head racing to the heart of Newcastle, Red Bull Tyne Ride is a test of skill, speed, endurance, and nerve. The never-before-seen event will bring together some of the world’s best riders in a series of head-to-head races, with 14 pros and 8 wildcards competing to win over three rounds, before the final head-to-head decider.

Local lad Billy Bolt, has used his imagination to design the course, alongside fellow Red Bull athletes Dougie Lampkin and Jonny Walker. The challenging design, supported by build partner, Bosch Professional, takes inspiration from motocross, enduro, mountain biking, BMX, and the wider world of action sports.

Competitors will complete a full run down the course up to the spectacular Bosch Wallride turning point, before heading back down the track in a race to the finish line. SuperEnduro World Champion and Red Bull athlete, Billy Bolt, said: “I’ve been working on the Red Bull Tyne Ride concept for a few years now with Red Bull, and I’m absolutely buzzing to bring this head-to-head race to my hometown this summer.

"The course is insane, it’s hugely creative in track design, with features inspired by different action sports, it’s really going to challenge the competitors. Usually our races are inaccessible, so to be in the city centre is going to be amazing."

Red Bull Tyne Ride is free for spectators, with the main event taking place from midday on Saturday 3rd August.
