Newcastle United back to work as new signing paraded and Adidas make their mark

Newcastle United stars have returned to pre-season training ahead of the 2024/25 season with the Magpies already parading one of their new signings.

With the eagerly anticipated new campaign less than a month away, Eddie Howe and his backroom staff are plotting a much better Premier League finish than last season's seventh place. Having missed out on Europe, qualifying for continental competition and a tilt at one of the domestic cups will be on the radar of Howe and his players.

As the players returned for health and fitness testing on Thursday morning, the squad were clad in the impressive new Adidas training gear at Benton. New boy Lloyd Kelly was pictured in the gym while a smiling Joe Willock also offered a thumbs up to drop a hint that he is ready and raring to go after a season of injury hell in 2023/24.

New signing Kelly is set to be joined by new keepers Odysseas Vlachodimos and John Ruddy while the now permanently signed Lewis Hall, who arrived for £28million from Chelsea, will also be aiming to hit the ground running. A host of international players are still enjoying an extended holiday while Kieran Trippier and Anthony Gordon remain on international duty with England after the Three Lions booked their place in the European Championships final in Berlin on Sunday.

The Magpies are due to fly to Germany on Monday for a pre-season boot camp before their first friendly game in front of fans takes place at Hull City on July 27.
