Newcastle's 'best kept secret' pizza place with rave reviews and queues out the door

If you've been walking through Ouseburn of late and seen a few queues on your travels, chances are they'll be coming from outside one place, as a pizza restaurant sees customers flocking and rave reviews for its food.

There are no shortage of locations to get a a 'slice of the action' in Newcastle these days, from chain restaurants to independent businesses and, since it opened last year, Maria Gianna has established itself as a form favourite with locals, thanks to its pizzas, pastas and gelato.

Ouseburn itself is an area packed full of hidden gems, from pubs to cafes and Maria Gianna is right at home amongst them, with its Instagram grid now packed full of delicious looking food pictures and overwhelmingly positive feedback. Its popularity has led to a small seating area outside on Stepney Road being extended, with hopes high that the weather will take a turn for the better and there'll be plenty of opportunity to soak up some sun while tucking into some top notch grub.

Maria Gianna's meal deals also offer people plenty of food for thought, with a £6 deal offering any pizza or pasta, together with a choice of: Arancini, rosemary roast potatoes, ttramisu, 4x cannolis or two scoops of gelato.

Comments sections underneath the posts on the restaurant's Insta posts make it abundantly clear that its owners are doing something right, with one follower reacting: "This all looks amazing" and another writing: "This food looks so so good."

Many other social media users have declared they're 'dying to try' Maria Gianna's, while one food blogger remarked: "We have travelled in Italy and had food in quite a few places there and I can honestly say that this food tastes just like in Italy, the flavours are incredible. Unmistakably rustic, homemade Italian food."
