Newlywed from North Wales shares perfect first dance in the street with husband outside an Iceland

A couple experienced a "perfect" moment after getting married in Liverpool. Ray Pendleton, from Formby, and his new wife Vicky, originally from Mold in Flintshire owe their unique first dance to the city's buskers.

A friend managed to film the beautiful moment as a crowd gathered to watch Ray and Vicky dance to The Stereophonics hit "Dakota" outside the Iceland store off Williamson Square, reports the ECHO.

Ray said: "We just saw each other coming and [the buskers] couldn't have been happier to make that special memory for us. The song was just perfect really because we feel like we've found the one!"

The couple, who have five children between them, met three years ago after striking up a conversation over Match.com. A week later, they met face-to-face at Cosy Club on Paradise Street and, as they say, the rest is history.

They initially wanted to keep their wedding a rather low-key affair. But, that plan soon went out the window once family and friends got involved.

Vicky said: "We were happy to have it just us, rock up in our jeans and do it with the kids but it soon took off when we told some family and then we couldn't leave out some friends. It all just snowballed from there really but it was all-in-all a beautiful day."

Ray agreed, and said: "It's people that make these things isn't it? Not the money you spend or the bricks and mortar. Liverpool really did us proud that day - what a city!"

Hospitality worker Vicky, 45, said the wedding was planned out months in advance, with all the usual arrangements made. But, she said the couple's unofficial 'first dance' was a total surprise. She said it was "perfect" and easily her "favourite part of the day".

The couple tied the knot at St George's Hall on Thursday, May 16, and started to walk through the city centre to their reception at Harvey Nicholls Beauty Bazaar. People going about their day didn't expect to see a bride walking through Liverpool city centre with complete strangers giving the couple their congratulations.

Ray joked that a few lads told him he was "punching above his weight" with Vicky. The humble 53-year-old admitted that he's "a very lucky man indeed". The wedding party continued the celebrations with a meal at San Carlo and the bride and groom spent their first married night at a hotel on Duke Street.
