Chris Hemsworth's Spanish sea drama

Liam Hemsworth's love life may have hit the rocks recently, but it's his big brother who was literally forced to abandon ship during a Spanish holiday.

Thor hunk Chris Hemsworth is currently filming the new Ron Howard movie, Heart of the Sea, out in the Canary Islands, and has his pregnant wife, Elsa Pataky, and 18-month-old daughter India Rose with him on location.

The family were on a boat with members of the production crew on Sunday as they made their way to Playa de Santiago, but ran into trouble when the catamaran ran aground off the coast of La Gomera.

The trio and several other passengers had to be saved by two rescue boats, which helped them get back to dry land. Thankfully, no one was injured during the drama.

A source tells the Daily Mail, "Nobody was hurt but any kind of rescue at sea is a scary event, especially for a pregnant woman with a young child."

Heart of the Sea tells the story of a whaling ship which sinks in the Pacific Ocean in 1820, which is said to have inspired the tale of Moby Dick.

Doesn't sound like the cast and crew are having a whale of a time, does it?

It's been choppy waters for both Hemsworth siblings in recent months - Liam famously split from fiancee Miley Cyrus earlier this year, just before she turned into the twerking, tongue-waggling musician we know today.

Some might say he had a lucky escape of his own.
