'All She Could See Was Me Completely Naked': Ian Somerhalder Recalls Making Naked Prank On Nina Dobrev Amid Split Claims

Amid speculation that they have split up, Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder has recalled the time that he played a practical joke on co-star and rumoured ex girlfriend Nina Dobrev by making her see him "completely naked" when they were filming a scene together.

Recalling the lead up to Nina seeing him in his birthday suit, Ian who appeared in good spirits as he recalled the memory about Nina despite allegedly splitting from her, told the audience at The Vampire Diaries BloodyNightCon Europe in Brussels this month:

"It was season three, episode one and Damon's (Ian's character) in the bath tub and he's having champagne."

The actor went on to explain how he came face to face with Nina, who plays Elena in the hit show. He continued: "Damien gets out of the bathtub completely naked", before clarifying that he plays the role of the Vampire, and then went on to say: "So I was really naked, expect for some suds and I had to walk out into the main room and I run into Elena and there I am naked."

Describing how his naked scene was filmed, Ian said: "We shot all my coverage (where the camera is on me) first and then we flipped it around to Nina and because Nina had seen it now ten times with every take, we decided it would be very interesting to get a real reaction out of her. 

"As the cameras were rolling, she figured that I'd be wearing a robe or something."

But Nina was in for a shock as Ian went on to reveal: "No robe, no suds and props people had made these elephant ears out of felt and I double stick taped them to my thighs and Nina turned around...All she could see was me completely naked with elephant ears and a very small trunk."

As laughs from the audience died down after Ian re-enacted Nina's face, he concluded: "And that was the take we used on the show. It worked. That's how giving I am to my fellow actors."

Whilst Ian appeared happy and comfortable recalling the prank he made on Nina, it was recently claimed that the reason behind the couple's alleged split was because Nina didn't want to make a "huge commitment" to Ian.

A source claimed to Life&Style Weekly: "He was starting to talk marriage and she is just getting started on her career."

Despite making the choice to split, the source went on to claim that the couple are still very much in love with each other. They added: "She loves him, and they still talk every day, but she is just not ready to make that huge commitment yet.

"Maybe in 10 years."
