Daniel Radcliffe has admitted that he avoided going to watch the popular 'Woman In Black' play because he didn't want it to influence his own performance in the movie.

The 22-year-old actor, who shot to fame in 'Harry Potter' as the boy wizard, stars in the new movie as Arthur Kipps, a widowed father who is sent to a haunted home to recover legal papers and is forced to battle with the supernatural.

"I spent most of my childhood on film sets and there was no way I was going to watch it once I got the part - I'm a terrible copycat actor," he told The Independent newspaper.

"And yes, I read the book and met with Susan Hill. It's a wonderful story, a complete page turner."

But Daniel admitted that he's not a massive fan of horror movies especially if they're too gory.

"I'm not really a horror fan. There's no way I could sit through something like 'Saw', it's too gory," he explained.

"I take fright easily. But something like 'The Shining', I think that's wonderful. And to my mind, this is a classic horror tale. Of course, it was really helpful that it was so different to 'Harry Potter' when I was looking for another direction."
