'It's A Dream Come True': Les Dennis Reveals Excitement And Joy Over Coronation Street Role

There's no one that is more excited about his role on Coronation Street than Les Dennis after he revealed that it is "a dream come true" for him.

The actor, who will be seen playing the role of a burglar who Coronation Street resident Gail McIntyre walks in on as he goes through her house, spoke about his debut on the soap with ITV's This Morning.

Gushing about his role and recalling how quick he was told that he'd got the part, Les said:

"It is absolutely the dream come true for me, it's been my favourite show forever. I've done all the impressions from it and to actually to go in to it and be accepted as a straight actor in it... it was the biggest thing on my wish list."

Fans of the soap will see Les make his debut tonight (ITV Pictures)

He added: "I did the screen test with Helen [Gail] and it all happen so quickly and two weeks later I was on the street running down the cobbles!"

Remembering his first day, the TV personality who was once married to Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, continued:

"It was also the first day on the new location so I was asking the other actors 'where's make up?' and they were going 'we don't know!' so I really felt like I was in this surreal dream."

Meanwhile, the actor recently admitted that he was offered a role on Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks. Speaking to Soap Squawk, the TV star said:

"About six months ago, I was approached by Hollyoaks. It was a character that is on screen at the moment, so I won't say [who] because somebody else got it.

"Hollyoaks is a great soap, but Corrie is my favourite, so [I'm] pleased that I'm in Corrie. My wife is a massive fan, all my family watch it. They love it. So everybody is thrilled for me."
