'Fantastic!' Simon Cowell Praises Cher Lloyd As She Drops New Single I Wish

It was her memorable first audition for The X Factor that caught Simon Cowell's eye, but it's her latest single that's been turning his ear.

The precocious 20-year-old was unanimously voted through to the next round of the talent show after she took to the stage with a rendering of Keri Hilson's Soulja Boy cover Turn my Swag On in 2010.

The ensuing three years have seen her develop a growing army of fans – particularly in the US, where debut album Sticks + Stones climbed to number 12 in the Billboard chart.

New single I Wish, featuring rapper T.I – Cher's first new material since dropping her first LP in 2011- has just been released, and Cowell was first in line to congratulate the young star.

“This new @CherLloyd single is fantastic,” he tweeted on Tuesday (September 3) along with an accompanying iTunes link to the track.

Cher is also preparing for her 13 date I Wish tour, which kicks off at the Filmore in Washington on September 6.

The tour will be her second in the US and will also include X Factor USA finalists Fifth Harmony as a support act.
