'We're Both Very Happy Right Now': Robin Thicke Talks Paula Patton Break Up

Robin Thicke and Paula Patton confirmed last month they were ending their eight year marriage, however the Blurred Lines star didn't sound as if the two were heading to a divorce court anytime soon; claiming they were "happier" than ever and that the actress "loved" his recent messages of love at his concerts where he begged her for another chance.

Yes, you might just be as confused as we are by the break up. Despite claims he was heartbroken about the break up and that he'd attempted to stop the actress from going through with the separation Thicke insisted everything was great between them.

Speaking to People magazine in New York yesterday he said: "We're both doing well. We're both very happy right now – much happier,"

"Everything about this moment in my life – this amazing year I just had and what I'm going through personally – has actually ignited some of the best writing I've done in a long time."

Hinting there might be more going on than we know about Thicke went on: "Whatever everybody's wondering about, they're going to hear it all in the album."

"Just to be a great father and hopefully write some great music, put on some great shows and be a great friend to Paula," he said of his goals for this year.

Following the announcement of the split, Thicke made quite a few public declarations of love for his high school sweetheart and begged her to take him back. While he didn't confirm it worked he did say: "She loved it,"

"She thought it was the sweetest thing and very romantic, and I've always been a romantic guy that way."

Sounds like his next album is going to be all about Paula as well as he revealed she's the inspiration behind his upcoming record.

"My music is very honest about what I'm going through and my songs are about my life," he said, "And my relationship with her was 21 years of my life, so I just thought it was important to me to let people know how much she means to me."

Earlier this month he professed his love for Paual during a concert. While the star was chatting to the crowd one fan yelled: “I love Paula” before Robin admitted: “I do too!”

The controversial hitmaker, who was still wearing his wedding ring, went on to perform a rendition of the Al Green classic ‘Let’s Stay Together’ then going on to deliver an Oscar-worthy speech about the importance of love.

"Never stop believing and you never stop loving,” he told the crowd.

“And even if it is over, make sure you treat each other right. Treat your family right. Take care of your mom, take care of your kids and good things will come to you. Just keep believing that God is good.

"That's what gets me by. Sometimes when I get a little scared or worried about the future, I just try to stay positive and do my part to spread love and spread joy."

The couple announced their split last month, and in a statement released to People magazine the actress revealed: "We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time."

Robin and Paula, who are the parents of nearly four-year-old Julian Fuego, met at a Hollywood dance club when Robin was just 14 years old. They began dating two years later and married in 2005.
