A new Britain's Got Talent winner has now been crowned but fans don't appear to be happy with the result. The 17th series of the ITV talent show came to an end on Sunday night (June 2) after an entertaining grand finale.

Following weeks of auditions and live semi-finals, vocalist Sydnie Christmas won the majority of votes from viewers and has taken home the huge £250,000 prize pot, as well as a spot performing at the coveted Royal Variety Performance.

Sydnie first appeared in front of judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Bruno Tonioli and Amanda Holden back in the auditions when she performed a heartfelt rendition of 'Tomorrow' from the musical 'Annie'. She was then given the Golden Buzzer by Amanda sending her straight through to the live shows.

Despite Sydnie's success, the singer has faced claims that she has a professional past, having appeared in hit shows like Starlight Express in Bochum, Germany, and Lazarus at London's King's Cross Theatre.

She previously spoke about her past in a chat with Lorraine Kelly, who asked her: "You have been grafting away, you have done the cruise ships, you've never been on the West End though?"," to which she responded: No! I just aspire to, I want to be a leading lady. That's the dream! That's the aim," before adding that she wanted to do Britain's Got Talent "to open a door, to try. Let's have it. Let's give it a go."
